NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER TRAINING SILVER MOCASSIN OVERVIEW National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)-Silver Moccasin is offered by the Great Salt Lake Council as part of the National Youth Leadership Continuum. Troop Leadership Training (TLT) is done by the Scoutmaster and Senior Patrol Leader to prepare Scouts to come to NYLT-Silver Moccasin. After a Scout finishes NYLT-Silver Moccasin he can continue and go to National Advanced Youth Leader Experience (NAYLE) at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, New Mexico.. This camp experience provides Scouts with a six day leadership experience. This course is designed to motivate youth to learn servant leadership and to use the Scout Oath and Law as their guides in making ethical decisions. Scouts will live in a patrol during their time at NYLT-Silver Moccasin. Working with youth from around the council, Scouts will use leadership skills to solve problems and build confidence in leading others. The week concludes with patrols having developed a vision of the true meaning of leadership. NYLT-Silver Moccasin prepares youth leaders to be better Troop Leaders. NYLT instills the values of Scouting in each Scout as they develop the ability to lead in whatever situation they find themselves. It develops lifelong skills to benefit them now and in the future.
