Community-Based Organization Chartered Partners

 

Service clubs, fraternal organizations, military veterans’ organizations, Boys and Girls Clubs, and informal parent groups among others are examples of community organization chartered partners.  Any such formal or informal group of adults may become a chartered partner.

 

Many organizations have national Scouting committees that provide awards, maintain national Website, and support Scouting in a variety of ways.

 

Community chartered partners in the Great Salt Lake Council include the following groups/organizations:

·         Elks Lodge

·         Lions Club

·         Community Association

·         Rotary Club

·         YWCA

·         Parents Group

·         Family Association

·         Elementary School Parents Association

·         Businesses

·         Law Office

·         VFW Post

·         Substance Abuse Treatment Center

 

Major Scouting chartered partners nationally in order of the numbers of units sponsored and their respective websites are:

American Legion and Auxiliary
Lions International

Rotary International

Kiwanis International
VFW and Auxiliary

Boys and Girls Clubs

Elks Lodges

Optimist International

 

Other major chartered partner categories for which there are no central organizations are:

·         Groups of citizens

·         Fire departments

·         Community centers

·         Athletic booster clubs

·         Chambers of Commerce/Business associations

·         Homeowners associations

·         Parent teacher associations and groups

·         Private schools
