1.jpg (1334 bytes) THOU SHALT SUPPORT THY CHIEF Of course it is difficult to be a chief.  You are to help him be successful.  His success is more important than your own - see to it.
2.jpg (1470 bytes) THOU SHALT BE CONSISTENT Whatever you agree to do for the chapter - do it and do it now!  Ruin their expectations, and you can expect to fail.  This is the major unacceptable.
3.jpg (1501 bytes) THOU SHALT HONOR MURPHY'S LAW Since all things that can go wrong will, you must have a backup plan for every event or activity.
4.jpg (1558 bytes) THOU SHALT HONOR THE WRITTEN WORD A poorly written plan is better than an exquisite plan that relies on memory.  Always write it down.
5.jpg (1393 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER, TIME FLIES LIKE THE WIND, FRUIT FLIES LIKE BANANAS Don't deal with fruit flies when you should be dealing with time.  Make priorities and deal with them.
6.jpg (1619 bytes) THOU SHALT SUPPORT THY LODGE  A Chapter is the activity arm of the lodge.  It is not an independent organization.  You are to see that they lodge programs succeed.
7.jpg (1372 bytes) THOU SHALT LOOK TO THE FUTURE We are interested in what a boy can become, not so much in what he is.  Let him see his potential through your eyes.
8.jpg (1504 bytes) THOU SHALT NOT BE A "BUDDY" Remember youth want and need leaders - not a 40+ year old buddy.  If you need buddies - join a bowling team.  If you are an adult leader, be one.
9.jpg (1495 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER BADEN POWELL His philosophy of "Train them, trust the, let them lead" still applies and most successful if followed.
10.jpg (2372 bytes) THOU SHALT HAVE FUN If you are not having fun, something is seriously wrong.  If the youth are not having fun you are failing.
11.jpg (1904 bytes) THOU SHALT SPEAK WELL OF ARROWMEN Telling tales of others is especially destructive when dealing with youth.  Don't do it.   Praise in public and correct in private.
12.jpg (2284 bytes) THOU SHALT ORDER THY WORK Serving well in one function is often better than trying to cover the waterfront.  We do not want supermen, we want men who are super.
13.jpg (2346 bytes) THOU   SHALT PLAY THE GAME Scouting is a game played by boys in a natural gang, with adult leadership.  If it ceases to be a game, it ceases to be scouting.
14.jpg (2329 bytes) THOU SHALT LISTEN A scouter who truly listens will be told what is needed.  Keeping your mouth shut 75% of the time is a great habit to get into.
15.jpg (2272 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER YOUR ANSWER IS NOT ALWAYS THE RIGHT ONE There are many solutions to tasks and problems.  It does not always have to be done your way.  Help the youth find the way that allows him to grow.

1.jpg (1334 bytes) THOU SHALT SERVE If you see anything in leadership but service - you see the wrong things.  See that your adviser has a good time also.
2.jpg (1470 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER IT IS THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE DOG THAT MATTERS A small group of committee people can change the world.  Live your dream.
3.jpg (1501 bytes) THOU SHALT PRACTICE THE BASICS In every winner it is attention to the basics that makes the difference.  In scouting it is the same - all success is measured in preparation.
4.jpg (1558 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER THE ENTERPRISE Make it so, do it now and take the prize.
5.jpg (1393 bytes) THOU SHALT PERSIST Most leadership is hard work without a lot of glory.  Poster children get the glory, leaders get the work.   Remember, "That which we persist in doing becomes east, not that the nature of the thing has changed, but that our capacity to do has increased." -- Heber J. Grant.
6.jpg (1619 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER EACH BROTHER Each brother is unique and has value.  Every brother is wanted, every brother is needed, every brother has value - find it.
7.jpg (1372 bytes) THOU SHALT NOT FLOCK Leaders are like Eagles they don't flock.  You find them one at a time.  There is not much value in a mindless crowd.
8.jpg (1504 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER TRADITION Wear the sash, sing the song and tell the story.  This simple motto will go far in making your chapter successful.  You never know who is listening and who might be inspired.  The symbols are there for a reason - use them.
9.jpg (1495 bytes) BETTER RESULTS DEMAND BETTER PERFORMANCE If you always do what you have always done, you'll always get what you have always got.  Raise your vision, add to your performance and your increase your results.
10.jpg (2372 bytes) THOU SHALT REMEMBER "JUST ONE MORE" Go beyond what you have done. Get just one more to Brotherhood, just one more election, just one more .....     Unless you go beyond what you are you will never grow.
11.jpg (1904 bytes) THOU SHALT GET AN ATTITUDE   An attitude is a little thing that make a big difference.  Get the right one and use it.  Remember the sun - it comes up in the morning regardless of the weather.
12.jpg (2284 bytes) THOU SHALT THINK IN SILENCE.  "Hours spent in thoughtful silence help us make the right decisions" - stay focused.
