2012 Westview District Fall Camporee
Where: Grantsville Reservoir
When: September 14 - 15, 2012 (Check-in begins at 5 pm)
Cost: $6 youth & adults ($1 late fee after Sept.5)
We are camping just west of the reservoir in the campground overflow. There is a restroom but no water provided. We will have a community beef stew dinner, evening activities and a service project on Saturday morning. We will finish up around 10:30 am.
Community Stew Information: Each troop may participate in a "Community Stew" evening meal. District staff will set up several large, heated Dutch ovens. Each Troop that would like to participate brings one can of beef stew per scout to the dinner. Each scout pours in his can of stew and then takes out a can's worth from the combined Dutch oven mixture. The stew mix is constantly changing, depending on the ingredients that are put in! The District will provide breadsticks for those that sign up. Each troop must bring their own bowls and utensils, and supply their own water or beverage.
THERE IS NO WATER AVAILABLE. PLEASE BRING SUFFICIENT WATER TO MEET YOUR NEEDS DURING THE CAMPOREE.
First Aid - each troop is expected to have a first aid kit for minor injuries. Injuries that cannot be handled by the troop should be reported immediately to District staff.
Latrines - restroom facilities will be available at the campsite.
Trash & Garbage - each unit will provide their own trash bags and remove all refuse from their campsite. Please follow the rules of NO TRACE CAMPING!
No Fires - because of the dry conditions there are no fires allowed except in the limited improved campsites. Cooking should be done on propane stoves.
Bring Work Gloves, Tools for Service Project - we will be emptying fire rings, picking up trash and cutting down weeds. Please come prepared to help leave the camp better than we find it.
