Basic Job Descriptions (actual duties may vary by needs of the camp):

21 year old age minimum

  • Aquatics Director
  • Shooting Sports Director

18 yr old age minimum

  • Archery Director
  • Store Manager

16 year old minimum

  • Lifeguard

15 year old minimum

  • General Staff
  • Store Clerk

Camp Sunrise offers non-traditional programs, including Girls' Camp to organizations outside of the tradition BSA framework. 

Basic Employment Requirements:

  • At least 15 years old by the first day of camp.
  • A registered member of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Physical ability to function in a rugged environment at over 8,500 feet for extended periods.

Some positions have additional age, training and skill requirements.

The employment season depends on the number of groups scheduled to use the facility..

Camp staff bunk in wall tents for the summer and return home on weekends. 

Staff members are responsible to provide their own transportation to and from camp.  However, as a service, the camp provides a bus for staff transporation that departs Salt Lake City (usually 2100 South Home Deport parking lot) on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and departs from camp on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to return staff to the HD parking lot.  Camp provides food, tent, bunk and a salary.
