1/3 cup grated cheese 2 cup flour � cup shortening
� tsp salt 3 tsp baking powder � - 1 cup milk
Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Mix in shortening. Add cheese and enough milk to make soft dough. Mix very lightly. Roll out to � inch and cut into circles. Bake for 15 min. 6-8 coals bottom, 14-20 coals top.
Dutch Oven Apple Dumplings
5 Granny Smith apples 2 cups water 2 sticks butter
2 large dairy-case cans of 2 cups sugar Dash of cinnamon
large-size buttermilk biscuits
Core and peel apples. Slice each into 8 pieces. Divide each biscuit into 2. Wrap apple slices with dough. Grease Dutch oven and place dumplings in oven. Heat water, sugar, and butter together in separate pot (do not bring to boil). Pour mixture over dumplings. Use 8-10 coals on bottom, 10-14 on top. Dumplings are done when apples are soft and dough is brown.
Dutch Oven Bread or Rolls

Shape dough into balls and place into lightly greased 12" oven. Cover and let rise in warm place till double (about 30 minutes). Brush rolls with melted butter. Keep 7 hot briquettes on the bottom and at least 14 on top. You need to top heat a lot to make them come out golden and not burned on the bottom. Bake them till you smell em, then check em (usually about 20-25 minutes depending on your heat).
Garlic Cheese Drop Biscuits
2 cups all purpose flour � teaspoon garlic powder
1 Tbls sugar � cup shortening
1 Tbls salt 1 cup milk
4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and garlic powder. Cut in shortening with a fork until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk until dough leaves the sides of the bowl. Mix in cheese. Drop spoonfuls into 12 in Dutch oven. Bake at 450o for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven immediately and serve hot. Makes about 15 biscuits.
