I DISCOVERED BOYS’ LIFE PATCH |
|
|
|
To earn this patch, several Boys’ Life magazines may be needed. Family members and Cub Scout leaders may help boys in reading the articles. In some of the following requirements, other Cub Scout advancement requirements might be earned, depending on the work that is accomplished. Upon completion of this patch, the Communication belt loop may also be earned.
Do three of the following:
1. Subscribe to Boys’ Life for at least one year. If you are unable to have the Boys’ Life in your home, go to the library or borrow from a friend. 2. Find another Cub Scout boy who doesn’t receive Boys’ Life Magazine and tell him about how much fun you had reading it. 3. Enter the Boys’ Life “Say Yes to Reading” Contest. (For more information see the Say Yes To Reading Patch.) 4. Read A TRUE STORY OF SCOUTS IN ACTION article. Tell an adult about the story and find out ways you can become prepared for accidents. 5. Read a fiction story from any issue with your family.
Do four of the following:
1. Read two comics with family members or a friend. Tell an adult the comics you read. 2. Read a THINK AND GRIN page with a family member or a friend. Prepare one of the jokes for your family, den, or pack meeting. 3. Read an article on SPORTS or SCIENCE. Try the sport or experiment out for yourself and tell an adult what you have learned. 4. Read an article on SAFETY or HISTORY. Practice the safety rules or if doing history tell an adult what you have learned. 5. Read an article on HOBBY HOWS or CODEMASTER. Try one of the hobbies or learn one of the codes and show to a parent, den member or leader. 6. Read an article of your choice, different from what you have read.
For another resource in using Boys’ Life to help in advancements, see the Boys’ Life Program Helper found in the Scouting Magazine.
This patch may be purchased at a local Scout Shop. |
