Camping & Events – Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Can I just go to Camp Tracy and camp overnight and have use of the tubing hill?

A.  No, you must call the Council office and make reservations.  The cabins rent for $25.00 each per night plus a $40.00 cleaning deposit.  The tent sites located in the Cub Country area rent for $1.00 per person or $50.00 per group which ever is the least amount of money plus a $40.00 cleaning deposit.  Use of the tubing hill is an additional $15.00.

Q.  When going to camp, how many adults are required to attend, is it 2 for each 10 boys?

A.  You have to have at least 2 adults for any size group.  We strongly recommend 1 adult for every 5 boys.

Q.  Do I have to have two adults with just 2 boys?

A.  Unless the boys are brothers and their parent is going with them, you need to have 2 adults.

Q.  How many merit badges can a boy earn at camp?

A.  A boy has the opportunity to earn at least 8 merit badges, depending on which ones they choose.

Q.  Are the majority of merit badges the same at all camps?

A.  Yes, there are a few exceptions, but for the most part they are the same.

Q.  There are three different medical forms, Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3, what is the difference between them?

A.  Calls 1 is a permission slip that is used for all days camps, it has a medical history that should be filled out and taken to camp for all boys and adults.  Class 2 is used for all long term camps for boys and adults, this does require a physical exam.  Class 3 is for all high adventure camps and activities.  Also any adult going to a long term camp who is over 40 years of age.  This form requires that the participant has a yearly physical.

Q.  Can I register for camp online?

A.  All of our camps are available for online registration.  Go to our website www.saltlakescouts.org, select Camping and choose the camp you want to sign up for.  You will need to be prepared to pay with a Visa or a Mastercard at the end of the transaction.

Q.  Can I get a permit online?

A.  Yes.  Go to our website www.saltlakescouts.org and select Forms.

Q.  Is the camp availability online accurate?

A.  Yes, you are seeing the latest and the most up to date information available.

Q.  When do you start taking signups for the camps located at Millcreek Canyon, Cub Country, Webelos Camp and the 11-year-old Camp?

A.  Deposits will be taken at the Cub Scout Pow wow the 1st and 2nd week of November.   Come prepared with the dates you want to go and the estimated number of boys you plan to take to camp.

Q.  Can I just mail my camp reservation in with my deposit?  Who do I make the check payable to?

A.  You may do that, but we cannot guarantee the camp or camp site you have chosen will still be available.  Make your check out to the Boy Scouts of America.

Q.  Can you give me the names & telephone numbers of all the Scoutmaster signed up for all of your camps the week of July 7th.  Just those with small troops, so I can call them to see if I can camp in their campsite?

A.  No, because of privacy issues, we are unable give out that information.
