17th Annual 2008 Great Salt Lake Council Scout Shabbat service

Where: Park City
Date:     February 15th, 2008
Time:    6:30pm

Seventeenth Annual Scout Shabbat Service: All are Invited

Each February, Jewish communities across the United States hold a Scout Shabbat service at which Jewish Boy and Girl Scouts are recognized and we honor those who have earned their religious emblems.  This is an auspicious year because scouting worldwide just turned 100 years old.  Jewish communities have been involved in scouting since its inception.  The Jewish investment banker Mortimer Schiff was one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America and there has been an active National Jewish Committee on Scouting since 1916.

The 17th Annual 2008 Great Salt Lake Council Scout Shabbat service will be at the beautiful new Temple Har Shalom in Park City at 6:30 PM on February 15.  Please join us at the service where Cub Scouts from Pack 4732 in Park city and Pack 3351 in Salt Lake City as well as Boy Scouts from Troop 351 in Salt Lake City will be receiving the religious emblems that they have earned this year.  These include the Maccabee, Aleph and Ner Tamid awards.

We encourage Cub, Boy, and Girl Scouts from all Packs and Troops to attend in uniform and to participate in this happy event.
