DUTY TO GOD HIKE
What: Our first ever DUTY TO GOD HIKE is a FIVE MILE TREK
through downtown Salt Lake City, giving scouts an opportunity to
VISIT AND LEARN about some of the Churches in our area. At each stop, a Church representative will give a brief (and age appropriate) explanation ofone of the TEN COMMANDMENTS or moral teaching from their Church.
When: Saturday April 26th 9 am – 2pm
Where: Downtown Salt Lake City
Who: All Cubs, Webelos; Scouts; Varsity; Ventures and their leaders as well as any youth groups from particpating churches.
No Cost: There is no charge for this activity even though each youth participant will receive a beautful Duty to God Hike patch. Each participant should bring a snack, sack lunch and plenty of water.
Why should you bring your youth to this activity:
· It will help Scouts understand and appreciate the diverse religious traditions and heritage of our valley.
· It helps fulfill requirements. Here are just a few examples:
Wolf Badge Requirement 4f – Visit an important place in your community.
Bear Badge Requirement 8e – Learn aobut the history of your community.
Arrow of Light Requriement 5 – Participate in a day hike.
· 2nd Class Requirement 1b – 5 mile hike.
· Citizenship in the Community Requirement 8 – Prepare a public presentation about your community.
· Venture Bronze Relgious Award Requriement 2 (a,b) – Learn about cultural diversity and make a presentation.
