Step 1: Fast Start
Videotape shown to new leaders with 48 hours of accepting a position. May be done at roundtable by the district or assigned to zone commissioners to do in LDS stakes, wards, and community organizations.
Step 2: Basic Training
Four-hour training course with content taken from Session One and Session Three of the national Boy Scout training syllabus. To be offered in LDS stakes and for other community organizations as needed.
Step 3: Supplemental Training
Advancement -- A one hour course taken from Session Two of the national Boy Scout training syllabus. May be taught at roundtable as a break-out section or at another district-sponsored event.
Outdoor Program -- A one hour course taken from Session Two of the national Boy Scout training syllabus. May be taught at roundtable as a break-out section or at another district-sponsored event.
Roundtable -- A one hour monthly training session provided by the district for Scoutmasters. Focuses on the program for the upcoming month.
University of Boy Scouting -- Various courses offered once each year focusing more in depth on Scouting skills and philosophies.
Step 4: Outdoor Leadership Skills Course
A two day course focusing on basic outdoor camping, cooking and scout skills. Should be taught at least once each year by the district staff.
